At Quince Orchard Dental Specialists, we believe that a healthy mouth translates to a healthy life. Our practice centers around the provision of high quality, professional and personalized dental services from our friendly, competent dentists. Whether you’re a child, teenager or an adult, you need strong, healthy teeth to chew your food, speak and smile. We are here to take care of your best feature, your teeth, whether natural or synthetic.

Periodontics is the branch of our dental practice that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of problems that affect the gums and other supporting tissues of the teeth, and the placement of dental implants. Our qualified and experienced periodontist and support staff are here to help you transform your smile. One of the methods that we use to get you the healthy mouth you deserve is a Sinus Lift.

A sinus lift is surgery that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. It's sometimes called a sinus augmentation. The bone is added between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses, which are on either side of your nose. To make room for the bone, the sinus membrane has to be moved upward, or "lifted." Due to the anatomy of the skull, the back of the upper jaw has less bone than the lower jaw to start with. A sinus lift is done when there is not enough bone height in the upper jaw, or the sinuses are too close to the upper jaw, for dental implants to be placed.

You may need a sinus lift if:

  • Bone loss due to periodontal (gum) disease - Bone loss due to Tooth needing to be extracted. Once teeth are gone, bone begins to resorbed (absorbed back into the body). If teeth have been missing for a long time, there often is not enough bone left to place implants.
  • The maxillary sinus may be too close to the upper jaw for implants to be placed - The shape and the size of this sinus varies from person to person. The sinus also can get larger as you age and also fall into the space of missing teeth.

Sinus lifts have become common during the last 15 years as more people get dental implants to replace missing teeth.

The aim of our periodontic practice is to optimize the health and function of not just your teeth but the area surrounding your teeth, i.e. your jaw and gums. Our periodontist and our highly trained dental team are dedicated to ensuring that you have the best periodontal care in the most comfortable setting. Through the use of advanced and appropriate dental technology, we guarantee the highest level of periodontal treatment and diagnostics, to produce the finest, most stable results. We encourage you to come in to our office to find out how we can help you achieve the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve.
